Shakespeare in Y1 & Y2
Have a look at all of the fun we have had during Shakespeare Week!
To start off Shakespeare Week, we learnt all about the life of William Shakespeare in this lesson. We discussed his life and what he did as well as the impact he had and still has today. Indeed, even though he was alive over 500 years ago, he has recently been voted the greatest ever Briton which says a lot about how influential he is. Working together in groups, we presented the information we had learnt about William Shakespeare, including facts such as where he lived, what plays he wrote, where his plays were performed and lots of other points.
Later in the week, we have taken inspiration from the Fairies, Pixies and Elves in the story, to create our pieces of work.
In English, we used vocabulary from the story to create and write descriptions of our own fairy characters.
In Art and D&T, we designed and made Fairy Wings and Fairy Doors that could transport us to another world! We used wire to create the shape and then covered our frame with tissue paper. For the doors, we used wooden sticks to build the door and then decorated them with beautiful and intricate designs, inspired by the magic in the story! Thank you to all of the friends and families of the children who came to see our Shakespearean-themed art on display.
