Y3 - Miss Stupples 2023 - 2024
My name is Miss Stupples and I teach Year 3 along with Mrs McGhee and Mrs Woledge, who supports our class. I have been a member of the teaching staff at Northway since 2011. Before this, I taught at another school in Sefton in both Infants and Upper Juniors. As well as teaching Year 3, I am also responsible for leading English across the school. Northway has always been a special place to me as I attended this school myself! It has gone from strength to strength over the years and it has always had the children's well-being at the centre of every decision.
We share lots of our fun learning on the school twitter account each week. Please make sure you follow us on: @northwaymaghull
This half term, PE lessons will usually take place on a Monday but please make sure your PE kit is in school at the beginning of every half term and stays in school.
All pieces of clothing, including school uniform and shoes must be named. Please ensure earrings are removed or covered with plasters on the P.E. day, staff are not permitted to do this for the children.
Food and drink
Every child should have a water bottle that they can access at any time during the day. This bottle should be in addition to a lunch time drink, if they are on packed lunches.
Your child may bring a nut free healthy snack for morning play. Please ensure that the snack is in their book bag so that they do not have to find it in their lunch bags.
- Bread or toast.
We have children with anaphylaxis, a life-threatening condition that is caused by a severe allergic reaction to nuts. We ask you to help us protect these children by sending snacks for your child that do not contain nuts. Thank you for your cooperation with this; it is very much appreciated by the families of the children.
Please read with your child, regardless of their ability, at least twice per week and sign their home-reading record. Your child will need their reading book each day as we have Accelerated Reading sessions everyday.
To quiz on a school reading book, use our school’s AR site:
Children can also check if a book they have read from home has a quiz attached to it using the following website:
This half-term your child will not be bringing a spelling list home to learn. We will continue to work on the Year 3 and 4 common exception words in class but they will not be tested on them weekly. A copy of the National Curriculum words can be found in the 'Downloads' section, below. Please encourage your child to complete some weekly spelling practise by accessing Doodle Spell.
Your homework is to complete the Doodle Assignments set for you each week on Doodle Maths, Doodle English and Doodle Spell. Homework is set on a Friday.
Inside your child's home reading diary is the username and password for them to access the resources below. These are useful sites for completing maths and English activities.
