Y4 - Mrs Farrington 2025 - 2026
Mrs Farrington
Welcome
My name is Mrs. Farrington and I teach Y4, supported by Mrs. Hooto. I have been teaching at our wonderful school since 1991. It is such a happy, family atmosphere here that once people come they usually stay! Previously I taught in Dudley in the West Midlands. I am originally from Redcar in North Yorkshire and I have always wanted to teach.
We share lots of our fun learning on the school twitter account each week. Please make sure you follow us on: @northwaymaghull
Contacting the Class Teacher
Please contact the school office via telephone or email and they will pass the message on to the class teacher.
Food and drink
Every child should have a water bottle that they can access at any time during the day. This bottle should be in addition to a lunch time drink, if they have packed lunches.
Your child may bring a nut free healthy snack for morning play. This can be bread or fruit.
We have children with anaphylaxis, a life threatening condition that is caused by a severe allergic reaction to nuts. We ask you to help us protect these children by sending snacks for your child that do not contain nuts. Thank you for your co-operation with this. It is very much appreciated by the families of the children.
PE
PE lessons will usually take place on Wednesday but please make sure your PE kit stays in school. ALL pieces of clothing, including school uniform and shoes MUST be named.
Spellings
We will continue to work on the Year 3 and 4 common words. A copy of these is on the class page of the website.
Homework:
Children are expected to read three times per week to an adult and have their reading record signed. They should also complete sessions on Times Table Rockstars to practise their tables. Please focus on 3x, 4x, 6x, 8x.
Your child has access to CENTURY learning portal. Each Friday a maths nugget will be set for them to complete. They should complete this before the next Friday. We have a homework club in school at lunch time for your child to use, should they need it. CENTURY also has an ongoing learning pathway so children can log into their account and carry on working on tasks and activities to support them at any time. Your child's password is in their reading diary.

Inside your child's home reading diary is the username and password for them to access the resources below. These are useful sites for completing maths and English activities.
Please read with your child, regardless of their ability, at least three times per week and sign their home-reading record. Your child will need their reading book and record in school every day.
Children can also check if a book they have read from home has a quiz attached to it using the following website:
